Windsor, Colorado
The town of Windsor is a Home Rule Municipality in Larimer and Weld counties in the US state of Colorado. The Cache la Poudre River runs through the town, which is approximately half-way between Fort Collins and Greeley. The centralized location of the town has given rise to rapid growth in the last two decades.
Hexcel’s facility in Windsor, Colorado was opened in 2009.
Hexcel's Windsor plant manufactures prepregs, which are epoxy resins reinforced with glass or carbon fibers. Prepregs are cured under heat and pressure to form extremely strong and stiff structures with a very high strength to weight ratio.
The key market for products made in Windsor is the North American wind energy industry. Hexcel prepregs are used to manufacture the shells and spars of wind turbine blades and Hexcel selected Windsor for the plant location due to the close proximity of Vestas Wind Systems, a major customer.
